Case Study D2 Warehouse
Due to an increase in production Golden Acres required additional storage for their pet food products. Having purchased a new warehouse, Picow were approached to alter the existing electrical infrastructure to meet their requirements.
CLIENT: Golden Acres
PROJECT: D2 Warehouse – Refurbishment
VALUE: £ 450,000
SCOPE: Electrical Design & Installation
Our scope of works was to design and install a revised electrical infrastructure including all containment to accommodate the new layout proposed for the warehouse and distribution offices.
Picow undertook the electrical design and installation works to remodel the existing portal frame building to suit the requirements of our client. The existing electrical infrastructure of the 185,000 square feet property was surveyed by our engineers before liaising with all other disciplines to capture all electrical requirements. Once completed our design team produced a comprehensive design for all electrical aspects of the project ensuring it satisfied all electrical criteria before finalising our design.
The electrical distribution installed to the premises was modified to accommodate the new equipment required. Due to the large scale of the building a distribution network was developed to compartmentalise the electrical installation into areas.
Our power installation comprised of new lighting, small power, data cabinets, transformers and power supplies to all mechanical devices. To enable the installation of all cabling a comprehensive containment system was run throughout the building emanating from the distribution network. This encompassed the main warehouse, distribution offices and external sprinkler pump house.
Throughout the building energy efficient LED lighting was installed to assist the company in achieving their carbon footprint goals. Within the warehouse a new LED lighting system was installed to coincide with the new high storage racking. The lighting incorporated a presence detection system to improve the energy consumption within the building. This same philosophy was adhered to throughout the refurbished distribution centre and sprinkler pump house.
The project had a short timescale to be completed, but our engineers ensured the warehouse was ready for operation on time.
