Picow in Partnership with Mechan installed a new automated sanding system serving Metrolink Trams at the new Trafford Depot in Manchester, built to stable and service the Metrolink Trams fleet.

The sand filling system installed delivers sand directly into the trains under pressure at low velocity to minimise pipewear with a simple exhaust system accompanying the installation to eliminate dust.

The scope of works included the following :

• Pipework
• Exhaust System
• All associated wiring and control systems
• Testing & Commissioning
