Case Study Newton Heath LMD
Due to expansion within the facilities at Newton Heath LMD in Manchester, Network Rail issued PICOW Engineering the task of designing a new electrical infrastructure to accommodate the additional requirements.
CLIENT: Network Rail
PROJECT: Newton Heath HV/LV Upgrade
VALUE: £ 450,000
SCOPE: Electrical Installation
Following a thorough investigation and survey it was determined that the existing mains supply to the Newton Heath Depot was insufficient and required to be upgraded to accommodate the new power requirements. Following consultation with the site management a detailed design was produced which incorporated all necessary shutdown and changeovers.
Once approval of the design had been received our engineering department was entrusted with the task of installing the project. Our project management team were responsible for the seamless integration of the new low voltage equipment to replace the existing hardware. This required liaising with the local utilities company to guarantee the successful upgrade of the main transformer feeding the site prior to the LV installation.
A detailed programme of works ensured all changeovers and installation works were achieved with the minimum of disruption to the maintenance depot.
