Case Study Preston wwTw SBAP
Picow Engineering Group were entrusted by Galliford Costain Atkins (GCA), on behalf of United Utilities, to undertake the electrical and instrumentation design and installation with regards to the Preston WwTW SBAP Enabling project.

Picow’s preliminary objective was to produce a comprehensive electrical design package for the project which included, cable schedules, cable calculations, cable routing diagrams, lighting calculations, general power and lighting layouts and earthing schematics.
The approved design was then presented to Picow’s engineering department to undertake the extensive electrical and instrumentation installation. The project included lightning protection systems, power cabling, conventional control cabling, instrumentation, external lighting and general power outlets. A gas detection system was also installed to the cake handling silo truck loading tunnel.
A profibus monitoring system to the sludge screening area was also required. Our qualified engineers were responsible for installing all devices, cabling and terminations within this infrastructure. Upon completion a BT200 and final oscilloscope test was completed.
Picow engineers assisted GCA with the final commissioning of the plant to ensure that the new electrical installation was fully operational and fault free prior to hand over.
