Case Study Widnes Municipal Building - Refurbishment
PICOW Engineering undertook a project for Halton Borough Council on behalf of Globe at the Municipal Building in Widnes.
The scheme had been designed to modernise the existing office space into a contemporary open plan working environment. Careful planning was required to co-ordinate the mechanical and electrical services within the project due to the operational nature of the building.
CLIENT: Halton Borough Council / Globe
PROJECT: Municipal Building Widnes
SCOPE: Electrical Refurbishment
A new electrical infrastructure was installed which included an upgrade to the main supply to the premises. During this process Picow were responsible for liaising with the Utility Company to ensure the smooth changeover was achieved.
The project was logistically challenging to our management and engineers in ensuring no disruption occurred to the Councils IT Hub, which services the entire Borough. The installation and relocation of backup generators ensured no services were lost during the project.
The entire LV electrical installation was undertaken within the refurbished areas of the building including containment, power, fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV, door access, disabled refuge system, lightning protection and lighting which included a state of the art lighting control system.
