Picow are now entering the final stages of our £10m electrical, control and instrumentation installation on the £80m Ingredients Kitchen project for GA Petfood Partners at their Plocks Farm site in Bretherton, Lancashire.

The project involves a new ingredients storage facility, new pre extrusion plant and upgrades to the fresh meat processing equipment. Picow have completed the design, supply and installation of structured cabling systems to approximately 2,200 drives and 7,900 instruments in addition to all the building services.

The process when fully commissioned will provide automated dosing of dry raw ingredients and storage of finished product in 15,000 containers to provide tracability from “Plough to Plate” required by the modern pet owner.

In order to deliver the project to their exact requirements and also maintain a flexible approach with existing operational areas of the productional facility, GA Petfood Partners opted for an in-house collaborative approach; with themselves taking on the role of overall project manager and principle contractor and with Picow Engineering Group being chosen as the Electrical Contractor to work alongside other preferred supply chain partners such as KSE, Diafuku, Deprez and JBT.

This extremely complex project has taken three years to design and approximately fours years to complete with the plant expected to be in full operation by the 4th quarter of 2019.
