As National Apprenticeship Week draws to a close, Picow Engineering Group would like to express how important apprentices are to the continued success of our business. In-keeping with the “Look Beyond” theme, co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service, we want to celebrate the diversity and value that apprenticeships bring in general to employers, apprentices and communities across the country.

At Picow Engineering Group we have many success stories to tell of past apprentices who have come through the business and have successfully qualified as a tradesman or have progressed to site supervisor, design engineer, project manager, right through to the top of the business where we have Paul Allen (Operations Director) and Mark James (Managing Director), both starting as apprentices for Picow over 20 years ago.

Lets talk numbers!………Currently out of the 110 directly employed people within our business, 32 of them are either currently completing apprenticeships or have successfully qualified within their field and remain extremely valuable employees. That is an employed / retention rate close to 30%!

Taking the above into account, we would like to ask all young people, parents and teachers to “look beyond” the traditional routes of employment and to understand the true potential that an apprentice has in our industry and in particular at Picow Engineering Group.
